People Power - toothbrushes
OK, we all know we need to do more to reduce the effect our wonderful race of humankind is having on the environment. We should walk more, or use public transport; use environmentally-friendly, chemical-free cosmetics, skincare, washing powder and even household cleaning products. But what about the little things? In our homes, most of us endeavour to find ways to minimise the impact our everyday actions make on the environment. We recycle and compost household waste, turn the lights off, turn down the heating, and stop leaving the TV on standby. Making small changes to everyday activities can make a big difference, and one of these is the simple daily practice of brushing our teeth. What sort of toothbrush do you use? Would you believe making just one small change, and using a recyclable brand of toothbrush like Monte Bianco, really does help reduce landfill sites, so it means you are doing just that little bit more to help save the planet.
I've done a bit of research, and found out that over 240 million toothbrushes are being dumped in our landfill sites every year! My goodness! Consider the contribution that most of us are responsible for - dentists recommend changing your toothbrush every three months, and whilst that's great for keeping our smiles beautiful, its not so great for our poor old planet.
Have a little look at your daily routine, to see where you can make a change. To do my bit, I've started using Monte Bianco toothbrushes. Rather than throw out your entire toothbrush once it is past its best, with Monte Bianco, you just unclip the brush head and replace it with a new one. Easy! This economical and eco-friendly way of cleaning teeth means that every one of us can reduce the amount of plastic from toothbrushes we throw away by around 80% - a small action which has a huge effect on the environment.
Looking around me, and doing the maths, there are 7 other people I share an office with. If each of them switched to using a Monte Bianco earth-friendly toothbrush, that would save 84 non-recyclable toothbrushes from being added to the landfill mass in the UK alone every year. If they went home, and shared this information with their families, that number could instantly be quadrupled to 336. Oooh, what power! How many peoples teeth-cleaning habits do you think you could change today?
